To prove that it is not just a Town Where Nothing Ever Happens, Dullbridge will be celebrating Queen Victoria II’s Titanium Jubilee with several happenings today.
Residents are invited to the Poorland Community Hall’s Jubilee Jousting Jamboree, where there will be entertainment for all the family, including workshops demonstrating the art of throwing empty cider cans into the street and how to verbally abuse pedestrians and motorists.
A bicycle theft and jousting competition will also take place, with participants invited to steal a bike and then hit each other with sticks. The afternoon’s entertainment will finish with the traditional Dullbridge Right Royal Punch-up.
Refreshments will be free, but residents are asked to bring their own cake.
Meanwhile from 5pm until way past bedtime, the town will reverberate with sound as the Rocking Royal Illegal Rave takes place.
The SaD Tuesdays’ Mike Colin Ryder and Baz will take to the streets to blast out a selection of their hits. The band shot to fame as part of the SaDchester scene in the 90s. Ear plugs are advised.
Smalltown Radio’s DJ Canoe will then take to the stage with his ‘Dubstep Set’, which will also feature a Dub-off as he competes with Mike Colin Ryder to see who can make the most noise.
Continuing the Royal theme, the evening will finish when members of Her Majesty’s Police arrive to break up the party, make several arrests and send everyone else home.
