Squire Teflon and Dick Trolley have both denied being the councillors involved in the latest scandal to hit Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council.
In a joint statement the pair said “We strongly refute these allegations. Whilst we both may be seen browsing our smart phones during council meetings this is for legitimate council business.”
Squire Teflon explained that on a couple of occasions he has been known to conduct research during Council meetings, explaining “I needed to establish a few facts about the operation of ice rinks and accidentally typed in the words ‘ice kinks’. The instant I realised my mistake, I immediately bookmarked the site and put my phone in my pocket.
A similar incident occurred when I was trying to search for firework displays and typed ‘Big Bangers’ into the search engine. Again, this was a legitimate mistake.”
Cllr Dick Trolley defended his own actions, saying “My interest was piqued during a recent meeting, when we were discussing ‘Children’s Play Areas’ and I was interested to see what sort of play equipment was available.”
The probe into the incident is expected to go very quiet very quickly.
