Woodenman’s Metalwork

Cllr. Woodenman surveys his new metalwork

Somerset-soon-to-be abolished-Cuonty Council briefcase holder for Roads and Transport (RAT) has been significantly disadvantaged by current Smalltown roadworks.

As the Councillor responsible for overseeing the Department of Road Maintenance and New Things (DORMANT), the scheduling at the same time of the George Street gas works, the waterworks on the road to Bream as well as road resurfacing in Dullbridge, was on his watch.

SomersetClive’s trusty reporter couldn’t help but observe Cymru & East Services & Supplies (CESS) attempt to connect Woodenman’s residence to its new gas main.

As if the 940 meters of barriers flailing in the wind was not enough, as well as the 9.4 metre wide trench preventing access on a temporary basis, what caught the eye was the permanent change inflicted on Jim Woodenman’s house.

The new gas pipe inconveniently encircles his front door.

Changes to property frontages in the Smalltown Endangerment Area (SEA) are not permitted by also-soon-to-be-abolished-Sadgebore Council, of which Woodenman is also a Councillor. It is expected that the infamous Whitewashes & Cover-up department at Sadgebore will defend his position.

But if Woodenman does need defending, it should be consolation that the metalwork appears to guarantee he might never be able to get out of his home again.
