Somerset Cuonty Council is delighted to have achieved first place in the recently revealed list of Green Councils.
A spokestree said “We are over the moon to receive this accolade. We’ve put a lot of effort into our ‘Forcing You to Go Green IniaTive’ (FUGGIT) and this makes it all worthwhile.”
“Our policy of slashing bus subsidies and closing roads has seen a lot of residents either trapped in their homes or having to cycle everywhere and our new iniative to stop collecting rubbish means that we have the lowest land-fill rate in the UK.”
“We are also hoping that the forthcoming hike in energy prices, caused by suppliers putting profits before people, will lead to residents having to choose between eating or heating. With luck, they will choose the former and energy usage in Somerset will plummet, leading to us seeing another improvement in our green credentials.”
