A section of Smalltown’s busiest road will be closed for essential digging up this week.
Brizzle Water will be carrying out work to replace a drain cover in Barrow Road, leading to a closure of up to four months from today.
A spokesperson piped up “We could have carried out this work at the end of last month, when the impact on holiday traffic would have been minimal, but where’s the fun in that?”
A 94 mile diversion will be in place for the closure from the junction with Bore Road to the junction with Brighton Road. Locals in the know and visitors with SatNav will be able to take a far shorter route to bypass the work.
