New use for Don’tins?

The watchtower at Don’tins.

Speculation is rife in Smalltown, Barrow and Bream that a new use may be found for HM Prison Camp Don’tins in Bream.

Don’tins is famous nationally due to the number of inmates who attempt to escape immediately after arrival at the camp, forming long queues outside the Governor’s office on a regular basis to request an immediate transfer to HM Prison Broadmoor on the basis that they ‘must have been mad to come here’.

Those that don’t make it out leave scathing reviews on DripAdvisor about the conditions they are expected to endure during their stay. The latest comments describe the place as ‘Vile’, ‘Absolutely disgusting’, and ‘A disgrace’.

Recent contributions to the website include one from an inmate returning for a second visit “The place has gone down hill in fact is so far down the hill its now underground.”

Another reviewer complained about the Prison Guards, writing “It’s dirty, falling to bits and the staff don’t seem to have control of the place.”, whilst another suggested that their fellow inmates were close to rioting, leading to calls to police from the guards requesting back up “There was ALWAYS drama, the police were there every day!” with another suggesting that the guards had lost control “The only entertainment we got to see was the million police and police cars that were on the resort every night due to the amount of alcohol adults had drank.”

However, all that could be set to change as rumours abound locally that owners Gritangrimeia Motels have received an approach which could see Don’tins turned into a holiday park, with clean accommodation and attractions for visitors to the area.
