New road naming policy announced

Following a furore about the naming of the new blocks of flats crammed onto the former Fucher’s Parkhaus site, Councillor Fencesitter has sought approval from Smalltown and Dullbridge Town Council for his proposal that the council be more involved in the naming of new developments.

Councillor Fencesitter said “The developers of the site put forward the name ‘Magnolia Meadows’ for the site and Sadgebore District Council accepted this, despite the fact that the name has no links nor relevance to the area. The developers justified the name by saying all the flats are painted inside with a popular shade of cream, however the site hasn’t been a meadow since 1824. Local people would rather have seen the site renamed ‘Fucher’s Folly’.

SaD Town Council have agreed that the town clerk should write to Sadgebore Council proposing the following names be considered for future developments in the area : Fencesitter Gate, Trolleys Way, Squires Rise and Bones Cross.

Submissions from residents are also invited and can be sent to the Town Council offices in Hayloft Road.
